Welcome to Consonance! You’ll find a bit of everything here, from the deep and meaningful to the light hearted and humorous. Most posts are essays about my life–experiences I’ve had, people I’ve known, and places I’ve been. The blog is borne out of my love of language, the simple enjoyment I find in writing, and an irrepressible urge to tell stories.
You may be wondering about the title of this blog, Consonance. It is a word I really like for its meaning and many applications. Consonance means harmoniousness or congruity, but it sounds a lot nicer than either of those words. My favourite meaning is an antiquated definition of consonance, “easy friendship.”
If this is your first visit, I hope you will browse through my recent posts. If you are looking for something in particular, just click the category that looks interesting. Your comments will always be gratefully received. You can leave a comment without any fear of your email address appearing. I am the only one who will see it–I promise!
Wishing you consonance,
Alison
P.S. The beautiful header photo of tulips was done my daughter Ashleigh, a budding photographer and artist.
About the Author: Alison lives in Australia with her husband, children, and an overweight dog. A mild-mannered school counsellor by day, at night (and between school terms) she morphs into a frantic novelist. When not counselling or writing, Alison enjoys reading good books, cycling for fun (no spandex pants, thank you very much), and taking long walks on Australia’s beautiful beaches.
